NASCAR SPEEDPARK SMOKY MOUNTAINS CELEBRATES 5TH ANNIVERSARY AND THRILL ZONE GRAND OPENING
Elliott Sadler joins the celebration with an appearance June 1st.
SEVIERVILLE, TENN. – MAY 25, 2004 – NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains is celebrating its 5th Anniversary June 1-5 with a week of free, interactive events and the opening of its newest amusement rides in The Thrill Zone.
The celebration begins on June 1st with an appearance by Elliott Sadler, driver of the #38 M&M’s Ford, from 6-8 p.m. Sadler will be racing fans, conducting media interviews and signing autographs during the appearance. Plus, the M&M’s themselves will be greeting guests and handing out free samples as they support their favorite NASCAR driver.
June 2nd brings WIMZ 103.5FM out to NASCAR SpeedPark for a full day of live remotes from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Along with various disk jockey appearances, WIMZ will bring along its Rock Babes to race, play miniature golf and ride bumper boats with guests in the park. The night ends with a bang as free fireworks’ show lights up the sky over NASCAR SpeedPark at 9 p.m.
On June 3rd, WIVIK the Frog from WIVK 107.7FM will be greeting guests throughout the park from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. High-energy, thirty five-minute BMX Stunt Bike Shows will take place throughout the evening at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. The extreme sports demonstrations include riders who have competed in the X Games and Gravity Games.
The Dan Plowden Band, featuring a country rock sound, will perform two free concerts at NASCAR SpeedPark from 3-4 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. on June 4th.
The celebration wraps up with Family Day on Saturday, June 5. Mix 105.5 will be broadcasting live from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Free face painting with Captain Z will take place from noon-3:30 p.m. and Juggles the Clown will be making balloon sculptures for guests from 1-4 p.m. Area mascots, including NASCAR SpeedPark’s Sparkie the Sparkplug, will also be greeting guests from 2-4 p.m.
During its 5th Anniversary, NASCAR SpeedPark will also feature discounts and specials including rock climbing for $5, a roll of arcade tokens for $5, combo meals for $5 and 5% off all retail purchases. Guests will also have the chance to win two Terrace Box tickets to the October weekend race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
The Thrill Zone, NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains’ newest amusement area, features six rides including a kid-sized roller coaster with NASCAR-themed cars, a spinning family ride, a double-decker carousel and more. Located inside the Smoky Mountain Speedway’s quarter-mile oval, The Thrill Zone offers more exciting rides for families to enjoy together.
Admission to NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains is free of charge and guests can buy ride and race tickets after entering the park. NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains, a 25-acre race-themed amusement park, is an interactive entertainment facility that bridges the gap between family amusement venues and the professional NASCAR racing circuit. NASCAR SpeedPark features challenging racetracks, a state-of-the-art interactive arcade, bumper boats, miniature golf, a souvenir shop and a snack bar.
