NASCAR SPEEDPARK SEVIERVILLE TO HOST KEVIN HARVICK

July 17, 2006, Sevierville, Tenn - - - - Kevin Harvick, driver for GM Goodwrench Chevrolet and official NASCAR SpeedPark spokesman, will visit NASCAR SpeedPark Sevierville on Thursday, July 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. During his appearance at NASCAR SpeedPark, Harvick will personally meet and greet all participating guests as well as sign autographs and race on the SpeedPark's tracks.

"As one of NASCAR SpeedPark's official spokesmen and one of the industry's top drivers, we are honored to host Kevin Harvick at our park," said Melodee Pohl, general manager for NASCAR SpeedPark Sevierville. "By hosting the industry's most popular drivers, such as Kevin Harvick, we are offering our guests the chance to meet one of their idols while enjoying our park's many exciting tracks and entertainment options. We look forward to a very successful event."

All guests interested in participating in the Kevin Harvick meet and greet event must have a wristband. The wristbands will be given on a first come first serve basis beginning at 10 a.m. on July 27. Available free of charge, only a limited number of wristbands will be offered. NASCAR SpeedPark will also have a limited number of wristbands available as part of a gift with purchase promotion. Guests who wish to spend $50 or more in the NASCAR SpeedPark retail store on July 27 will receive a wristband while supplies last.

About Kevin Harvick

Kasey Kahne remains one of NASCAR's promising young drivers as he begins his third season on the Nextel Cup circuit. The driver who replaced "Awesome Bill from Dawsonville" Elliott in Ray Evernham's number nine Dodge, recorded five second-place finishes and earned the rookie of the year award in 2004. He was also named one of "America's Top 50 Bachelors" that year by People magazine.

Deciding to pursue a career in racing, Harvick progressed to the Winston West Series. Two years later, Harvick won five races on his way to the 1998 Winston West Series Championship. A brief stint in the Craftsman Truck Series introduced Harvick to acclaimed car owner Richard Childress. Childress offered him a ride in the Busch Grand National Series. Harvick accepted.

In February of 2000, the blue-and-white ACDelco Monte Carlo pulled out of the garage area at Daytona International Speedway with rookie Kevin Harvick at the wheel. A remarkable two-year campaign in the Busch Series had begun. Harvick won three races and finished third in series points on his way to the Rookie of the Year title. On the track, he was known for his aggressive driving that led to a multitude of top-10 finishes. Off the track, his affable attitude and ever-present smile earned him the nickname "Happy."

Harvick began 2001 as the favorite for the Busch Series Championship title, and completed the year a Winston Cup superstar. After losing Dale Earnhardt in a wreck on the final lap of the Daytona 500, car owner Richard Childress asked Harvick to assume driving duties of the GM Goodwrench Service Plus Monte Carlo on the Winston Cup circuit. Despite the intense schedule and difficulty of driving full-time in two series, Harvick agreed and began the most incredible year of his life.

2001 brought Harvick two Winston Cup wins - the first coming in Harvick's third start - and a Busch Series Championship, which Harvick earned on the strength of 20 top-5 finishes and five wins. Harvick also earned "Rookie of the Year" honors on the Winston Cup circuit, finishing 9th in points.

Harvick became the first driver in NASCAR history to run full-time on both the Busch and Winston Cup series - a total of 70 races - in one season, and the first to be named Winston Cup rookie of the year the same season that he earned the Busch Series Championship.

Since his start in NASCAR's premier racing series four years ago, Harvick has had several career moments, including a win at the 2003 Brickyard 400. He is currently one of only thirteen drivers who has won a race in each of the National Series and is one of only two drivers who has won at least two races in each series.
